Dufton Pike

On the 25th May 2013 Myself and Paul Kilburnicus set off to the lake District to an area where you can find some small hills in the shape of Knock Pike , Murton Fell and Dufton Pike. With views over Cross Fell which I have done before, Little Dun Fell and the golf ball radar station of Great Dun Fell, as well as many hills over the main part of the lake district, including Little Mell and Great Mell Fell which are not to far away.
I arrived at Dufton’s Stag Inn before Paul (Nothing new there then lol) it was around 16:00 hours and Paul arrived an hour later we had our usual couple and headed up to Dufton Pike, on a nice sunny day we’d been blessed with once again.
I think we left the pub around 19:00 hours and about an hour and a half walk we reaching the summit and still we had some daylight left to pitch our tents, mine was the Hilleberg Akto and killys was his Terra Nova Voyager.

After watching the sun go down and the moon come up it was time to start cooking my amazing Chicken Balti curry and it wasn’t disappointing it had Paul’s taste buds dancing as usual.

Talking till 4am we decided to call it a night another lovely night we had, I had some rum which I can’t even remember drinking. Time for breakfast at 07:30 so much for the lie in Paul had promised,

Looking out my tent after about two hours sleep watching Killy cooking breakfast

I was awaken to the sound of a Primus Omnilite TI, Killy was the chef this morning and he made a right old mess of the eggs I remember but they still went down well.

His just desserts for the High Cup Nick Saga

We will both be returning to this hill again for the fantastic 360 degree views, one thing that sticks in my mind about this trip was a hill called “High Cup Nick” god knows why…
